Mexican Clinical Conference - 04-09 March 2018

Our Mexican conference is taking place in the Riviera Maya area of the Yucatan Peninsula, famous for the majority of Mayan Archaeological sites, the most famous being Chichen Itza. Between conference sessions, you'll visit 3 archaeological complexes, each different to the others. There's time to relax at the lovely "all-inclusive" resort, situated on the Caribbean Sea or visit the closest town of Playa del Carmen                


Sunday 4th                                                                                                        D

Depart Sydney for Cancun, Mexico & arrive late afternoon of the same day. Transfer to our all-inclusive eco hotel on the Rivera Maya, the venue for our conference

Monday 5th                                                                                                      BLD

This afternoon you’ll be introduced to your first Mayan ruins when we visit the Coba Archeological Area. You'll take a bici-taxi to see the largest network of stone causeways of the ancient Mayan world which contains many engraved & sculpted stone slabs that document ceremonial life & important events of the Late Classic Period (AD 600-900). Coba was estimated to have had around 50,000 inhabitants at its peak of civilisation & the built up area extends over 80 sq kms. You can still climb the 130 steps to reach the top of the 42m Ancient Pyramid


Tuesday 6th                                                                                                      BLD

The afternoon is at leisure OR visit Tulum, the 13th-century pre-Columbian Mayan walled city overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The 3 main structures of interest are the 7.5m tower El Castillo, the Temple of the Frescoes (with a partially restored mural) & the Temple of the Descending God. The site is relatively compact compared to other archaeological sites in the area. There will be some free time for photos, stall shopping or a walk down onto the beach 


Wednesday 7th                                                                                                 BLD 

The Chichen Itza Archaeological Site, is where we’ll be visiting today on our full day tour. It’s a world famous complex & the largest of the Mayan ruins in the Yucatan Peninsula. It was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1988 & was recently selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The massive step pyramid known as El Castillo dominates the 6.5sq. km ancient city, which thrived from 600AD to the 1200s. Graphic stone carvings survive at structures like the ball court, Temple of the Warriors & the Wall of the Skulls. After a couple of hours exploring this site, you’ll enjoy a delicious Mexican buffet lunch & there’s the chance to swim in a Cenote, a natural swimming hole famous in the Yucatan


Thursday 8th

The afternoon is free to relax at the resort - do a kayak or bike tour, relax by the pools or beach or go shopping in Playa del Carman. Our farewell dinner tonight will be a fun Mexican fiesta party, complete with music & dancing​

Bid farewell to Mexico & return home OR join us on our exclusive post conference tour to mysterious Cuba
