KENYA & TANZANIA 2026
CONFERENCE WEEK
Our second 2026 Conference will be held in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya in late August/early September, exact dates to be advised soon. There'll be conference sessions, a visit to a local clinic & a Maasai Mara village as well as game drives which coincide with the annual Great Migration of over one million wildebeest across the Mara River. There'll also be the chance to do an early morning hot air balloon safari before travelling back to Nairobi. Before departing Kenya, there'll be visits to the Giraffe Centre (home of the Rothschild Giraffe) where you can hand feed them as well as the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Our Mara accommodation will be in a luxury tented camp with en-suite facilities, air-conditioning & often animals can be seen within the camp!
PRE CONFERENCE TOUR - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK, LAKE NAIVASHA & HELL'S GATE NATIONAL PARK
On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll enjoy a couple of nights here exploring the wide ecological diversity & varied habitats as well as game drives. The park is most famous for the colonies of flamingos living on the shores of Lake Nakuru & although it's a bird lover's hub (African Fish Eagles, slender-billed Greenbuls, long-tailed Widowbirds, Rufous-throated Wrynecks & many more), it's also a wild game destination & is a habitat to over 100 endangered Rhinos, both black & white & one of the best places to see Rhinos in Kenya. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake also situated in the Great Rift Valley & is famous for its high populations of hippos & flamingos. There are over 1,500 hippos in the area & the lake is a birder's paradise, home to over 400 bird species. You'll take a boatride on the lake & then take a guided walk on Crescent Island, a wildlife sanctuary where you can see zebras, giraffes & other animals in their natural habitat. While in the area, we'll also visit Hells Gate, once a tributary of a prehistoric lake that fed early humans in the Rift Valley. We'll do a walk with spectacular scenic views, abundant flora & fauna, towering cliffs, water gouged gorges & you'll visit the Kariandusi Prehistoric Site. This is a significant Early Stone Age site dating back to approx. 1 million years ago. It's one of the first Lower Paleolithic sites discovered in East Africa & is known for its rich fossil & archaeological remains.
POST CONFERENCE TOUR - ZANZIBAR
The island of Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean 24kms off the coast of Tanzania & is the perfect location to relax after our safari's, with the island surrounded by shining white sand beaches & palm trees swaying lazily in the sea breeze. Stone Town is a World Heritage Site & full of culture & history with interesting streets & back alleys to walk through, famous & infamous historical sites, including the slave market, Sultans’ palaces, Beit el Ajaib (House of Wonders), Old Fort, artists’ studios & more. Feel the rhythm of life in the main marketplace, alive with the chatter of locals bargaining in Swahili & the vibrant palate of colours from the fabrics, tropical fruits, vegetables, spices & intricately carved wood. We'll spend 4 nights here to explore the sites including cruising on a dhow boat with time to swim, snorkel & relax.
