KENYA, ETHIOPIA, ZANZIBAR & GORILLAS 2024

Our second 2024 Clinical Conference will be held early October in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Between conference sessions & a clinic visit, there'll be safaris through the park to see Africa's Big 5 & also visit a Maasai Mara tribe. You'll stay in luxuriously furnished tents featuring four-poster beds, en suite facilities & private decks overlooking the hippo filled Mara River. Then we fly onto Ethiopia to visit the Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, founded by Catherine Hamlin, the Australian obstetrician & gynaecologist

We will be offering 2 pre-conference tours - Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda OR the island of Zanzibar

A trek into Volcanoes National Park to view the enormous endangered Silverback gorillas up close & personal, is a once in a life time experience. In small groups, you'll track a gorilla family. The families move around during the day & don't stay in the same place so the treks can be different each day. Because of this, it is hard to predict how short or long the trek will be or how easy or strenous it may be, but you can take your time & the end result is worth the it. You will spend approximately 1 hour watching the family interact, from 200kg males to babies.

Our pre-conference tour will be to the exotic spice island of Zanzibar in the Indian Ocean, just off the mainland of East Africa. It is characterized by beautiful sandy beaches with fringing coral reefs & the magic of historic Stone Town - a World Heritage Site - said to be the only functioning ancient town in East Africa. We'll see the sights of the island, swim, snorkel & enjoy a relaxing sunset dhow cruise

Our post conference tour will be Ethiopia, situated in the Horn of Africa & split by the Great Rift Valley. With archaeological finds dating back more than 3 million years, it's a place of ancient culture. Its most important & most famous site are the UNESCO World Heritage rock churches in Lalibela, dating from the 12th-13th centuries. You'll also see the fascinating tribes in the Omo Valley; Simien Mountains National Park; Gondar known for the walled Fasil Ghebbi fortress & once the seat of Ethiopian emperors and Bahir Dar to visit some of the world's oldest churches & monasteries on Lake Tana - the source of the Blue Nile & the largest lake in Ethiopia
