Pre-Conference Tour - Milan, Bergamo, Verona & Lake Garda

MON   06       Depart Australia this evening & arrive into Milan the following day

TUE    07       On arrival in Milan, transfer to our hotel & enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant           D                                                        

WED  08        This morning you’ll see the highlights of Milan - visit the famous Duomo & look at Milan from its                          rooftop; view Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous ‘Last Supper’ painting, located in its original place on the                      dining room wall of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie; take in the 360 degree                            view while standing in Duomo Sq; walk through the impressive Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II                                Building; view the Scala Theatre & wander the grounds of Sforza Castle. When the walking tour                          ends, the afternoon is free for you to explore Milan                                                                B     

                                                  

THU    09      Today we visit Bergamo. You’ll see the Lower town from the bus before taking the funicular to the                        Upper town & commencing our walking tour through medieval streets. You’ll see Rocca Castle,                            Piazza Vecchia, Cittadella & Piazza Duomo with a visit into Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The                          Basilica complex houses the Cathedral, Baptistery, Colleoni Chapel & Romanesque art. After lunch                      there’ll be time to stroll along Corsarola to shop or explore more of this city                             BL

       

 

FRI     10       We leave Milan & travel to the beautiful Valpolicella wine country to visit the famous Bertani      BL                       Amarone Winery for wine tasting & a light lunch. We continue onto UNESCO listed Verona for an                         afternoon walking tour through the streets of ‘little Rome’. You’ll see the 14th century house &                             balcony that was the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Piazze delle Erbe surrounded by                           Baroque buildings, the 1st century Roman Amphitheatre, Piazza Bra & the medieval Castelvecchio                                                                                           

              

 

SAT    11       Enjoy a relaxing day today exploring Verona on your own - walk along the river & cross Scaligero                        bridge, wander the small streets of the old town or visit one of the many museums on offer     B

               

 

SUN    12      The morning is spent at Sirmione on Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake. It is one of the major resorts                      of the lake & here you’ll see the houses of this little village, clustered around the 13th century                            Rocca Scaligera, which you will visit. Numerous villas, churches, battlements & belfries lead to                            the centre of town. After lunch, you’ll continue north to Lake Como for the conference week     BL
