SAT  19    Depart Australia for Delhi via Singapore & transfer to Le Meridien for a 2 night stay

 

SUN 20    DELHI                                                                                                                BLD

Our day begins with a hospital visit followed by sightseeing & lunch. You’ll see the Mahatma Gandhi memorial which is built on the very place where he was cremated; visit Jama Masjid - one of the largest & best known mosques in India; the historical monuments of the Qutab complex - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - dominated by the early 13th century stone tower; Humayun’s Tomb built in 1570 for Mughal Emperor Humayun, which inspired Taj Mahal & take a fun ride on a rickshaw through the streets & marketplace of Old Delhi. Our welcome dinner & show tonight will be a good introduction to India

      

 

MON 21   DELHI - AGRA                                                                                                     BLD

After lunch we depart for Agra, home of the Taj Mahal & a chance to see some of the countryside

    

 

TUE  22   AGRA                                                                                                                   BL

       It’s an early start as we visit the Taj Mahal for sunrise, sure to be a trip highlight! This ivory-white marble                   mausoleum was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor to house the tomb of his favourite wife. After               viewing this magnificent building in & out, it’s back to the hotel for breakfast & conference sessions. In the                 afternoon we’ll visit the historical red sandstone & marble Agra Fort, which was the main residence of the                   emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, when the capital was moved from Agra to Delhi


    

 

WED 23   AGRA - JAIPUR                                                                                                     BLD    

       We leave Agra for Jaipur - the capital of India’s Rajasthan state - also called the ‘pink city’ due to its trademark           building colour. Along the way we’ll visit Fatehpur Sikri - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - once a magnificent               fortified ancient city founded by a 16th century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its centre.             There will be conference sessions along the way with lunch in a beautiful setting


        

THU  24   JAIPUR                                                                                                                  BL

       The afternoon’s sights include the City Palace, a complex housing palaces & other buildings & was the seat of the         Maharaja of Jaipur; Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory featuring the world’s largest stone sundial & a             UNESCO World Heritage site. There’ll also be free time in the Old City markets.


    

FRI  25   JAIPUR                                                                                                                  BLD

       This morning we stop for photos at the pretty Wind Palace, known as Hawa Mahal in Hindi. The Palace was                 constructed in 1799 of red & pink sandstone as part of the women’s section of the enormous City Palace. We’ll           visit Amber Fort - also known as Amber Palace - a magnificent fort comprising an extensive palace complex &             built from pale yellow & pink sandstone in 1592. It’s a fascinating blend of Hindu & Muslim architecture. On the           way back to the hotel we’ll stop for a photo of Jal Mahal (Water Palace), situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake

       SAT 26   JAIPUR - DELHI                                                                                                       BL

       We depart Jaipur this morning & along the way enjoy lunch at a 300 year old palace-turned-hotel, overlooking             Shahpura Fort.  We arrive at Delhi Airport & check-in for the flight home via Singapore.  Alternatively, join us on         our exclusive post conference tour to Kathmandu & Pokhara in Nepal.
