WED   01

Delegates depart Cairo & fly to Southern Jordan. On arrival we drive to the Wadi Rum Protected Area & as we get closer, you'll view red desert sand & dramatic sandstone & basalt mountains. It's known as the Valley of the Moon & a number of movies have been filmed here. After settling into our Bedouin camp, dinner starts with the unveiling of the food which has been cooked underground for 3 hours. After dinner, spend some time around the campfire & listen to the live traditional music & star gaze (B/D)

THU   02

This morning you'll experience a 4WD adventure through Wadi Rum for a closer look at the unusual rock formations with a couple of stops - see where Lawrence of Arabia used to spend his time. We bid the desert goodbye & travel north to Little Petra (also known as Siq al-Barid), Petra's little sister. This smaller version of Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a wander through the Siq of only 450 metres & exploring some of the caves, we travel onto Petra for a 2 night stay (B)

FRI   03

Today you'll discover the treasures of Petra, the famous archaelogical site dating to around 300BC & was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Accessed via a narrow canyon called Al Siq, it contains tombs & temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, earning its nickname the "Rose City." Its most famous structure is the 45 metre high Treasury, a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade. You'll be guided through the Siq & other sights like the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, Theatre, Colonnaded Street & the 7,500 sqm Great Temple. Once the guided tour is complete, you are free to continue visiting other sites here or head back & visit the Petra Museum & other local sites (B)

SAT  04

Our final destination today is the Dead Sea but before that, relax & enjoy the scenery while we drive to the medieval Kerak Castle which overlooks nearby hills. It was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century & the fortress was constantly fought over due to its strategic location. It did suffer  damage but has been partially restored & is a site to see. We continue onto our hotel at the Dead Sea, a land locked salt lake between Jordan & Israel & is the lowest point on Earth at approx. 422 metres. You can spend time floating in the lake & use the natural mud - which is high in minerals -  to detox & relieve muscle aches (B/L)

SUN 05

We have a few stops today on our way to Amman, the first is Bethany Beyond the Jordan, the site believed to be the location where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. We also make a stop at Madaba, an ancient town in Jordan known for its 6th century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George.
